Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is the AllerEx Allergy test similar across the nation?
No. While every test includes the 8 most common food allergy tests, the 62 environmental allergy tests vary from region to region, based on what the patient would be exposed to.
Q. Which patients are tested?
Your doctor will know best, based on a questionnaire that each potential patient will fill out. The answers to these questions will clearly identify the most likely candidates.
Q. Why is the test performed on the back?
The back offers the most testable area as it provides both the space and the flatness needed for all 9 panels.
Q. What do the results mean and why are they important?
The results will tell the doctor if the patient is allergic to anything, what s/he is allergic too, and the degree of the allergy. It’s important to determine treatment types and dosage.
Q. How do I get immunotherapy?
From the tests performed, your doctor will prescribe a specific prescription for your immunotherapy, which will then be filled and sent back to your doctor so that he can instruct you on the proper usage.
Q. How many times do I need to be tested?
As soon as you being immunotherapy, you should be tested once a year in order to measure your body’s progress.
Q. How long does the immunotherapy last?
While every patient is different, oral applications tend to take 3-4 years while the injection method generally takes about 4-5 years for complete desensitization.
Q. How often do I take this treatment?
Oral immunotherapy should be taken twice a day for five months, and then once a day afterwards. Injections are performed in your doctor’s office once a week, on the same day and at the same time in order to maximize effects.
